This policy explains what information Rellan collects through rellanweb.com, how it's used, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and in plain language.
Who we are
Rellan is a website design and development business based in Missouri, USA, founded by Gage Smock. In this policy, "Rellan," "we," and "us" mean Rellan. You can reach us about anything in this policy at gage@rellanweb.com.
Information you give us
When you use the project inquiry form on our Start a Project page, we collect what you choose to enter:
- Required: your name, your email address, at least one thing you need help with, and a short description of what your business or organization does.
- Optional: your business or organization name, current website, project goals, intended audience, approximate number of pages, features you think you need, example websites, online store details, budget range, timeline, interest in ongoing care, and anything else you choose to tell us.
When you send the form, it also includes a preliminary package suggestion that the page calculates from your answers, and the package you were viewing if you came from our pricing page.
If you email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Please don't send sensitive information such as passwords, payment card numbers, or government ID numbers through the form or by email.
Information collected automatically
Hosting logs. Like every website, this site runs on a server that receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, and the time of the request. Our hosting provider processes this to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Browser storage. The home page stores one small item in your browser's session storage (named rl_welcome) so the welcome animation only plays once per visit. It stays on your device, isn't sent to us, and is cleared when you close the browser tab or window.
No cookies, analytics, or ads. Our pages don't set cookies and don't use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools. The site's fonts and code are served from our own domain, so loading a page doesn't send your information to other companies such as Google. If we ever add analytics, we'll update this policy before doing so.
How we use your information
- To read and reply to your inquiry.
- To talk with you about your project and prepare a recommendation or quote.
- To keep a record of our conversations and any work we do together.
- To keep the website and inquiry form working and protected from spam and abuse.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We only share information with service providers that help us run the website and the business, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Netlify, which hosts this website and receives inquiry form submissions on our behalf, including automated spam filtering.
- Our email provider, which delivers and stores email sent to and from gage@rellanweb.com, including form notifications.
These providers handle data under their own privacy policies. Apart from them, we only share information if you ask us to, or if we're required to by law.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry information for as long as it's useful for responding to you and for our business records. If we work together, we keep project-related communication for the length of that relationship and afterward as needed for our records. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your choices
You can email gage@rellanweb.com to ask what information we have about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We'll respond to your request, and if there's anything we need to keep (for example, for tax or legal reasons), we'll tell you.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We take reasonable care with the information you send us, but no website, email system, or online service can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
This website is meant for business owners and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
